The Hamster Project is sad to announce that the project is at its end.

The reasons are simple: There were simply not enough submissions to keep the project alive. I don't even have enough to make a decent music video.

And, in all honesty, I also feel the project's mission is now obsolete. Hammond is completely fine, very nicely mended, so now is no longer the time for the project's original intention. That was to wish him a speedy recovery - and I think we can take away the happy fact that that's exactly what we received.

If you wish to discuss this post, feel free, I will reply to any comments, questions, and concerns as always.

Thank you all for your love and support. Now, let's all wait for January, eh?

I just wanted to take the time, again, to say a rousing THANK YOU to those people volunteering to help the Hamster Project at MPH.

You have no idea how much I want to be there with you, but I know that you will do a fantastic job.

If you want, don't just limit shots to people saying "Get well soon" to our dear Hammond. Get some of the crowds, or the cars. That way I can make it nice and edited like they do for TV series'.

But most of all, HAVE FUN. Don't forget why you're at MPH - to see MPH. And have some fun for me. :)

I'd like to thank those of you who have said you would take your recording devices to MPH for me. You are seriously, seriously the best. :D

As far as I've counted there's about four of you right now, so I just wanted to go over an idea. If you could, get some interesting crowd shots and building shots as well as the interviews. Not many, just a few. Cause then I can play around with the whole thing, haha.

Also, you might want to have a posterboard or something that makes it clear that you're there to get people's attention. I'm just not sure how kindly people will take to those going up to them asking to film them, so try and keep the pestering to a minimum and let them come to you. Do it by shouting something like "COME SAY HELLO TO THE HAMSTER FOR THE HAMSTER PROJECT!" or something like that.

However, I'm not gonna be there so I don't know what it's going to go down like, so any suggestions/thoughts are more than welcome. :D

Hay guys. I'm sorry about not responding to my last post. I was feeling really bummed out, and then my life got hella busy, so I haven't had time to talk.

BUT I HAVE COME UP WITH AN IDEA THAT COULD SAVE THE PROJECT'S LIFE. And it involves... MPH.

Basically what I want to ask is that people who have video cameras that are going to MPH bring them with them, stick a sign on their back or something, and go around asking people to say "get well soon" to Richard. There's going to be HUNDREDS of people there that can be reached for this project. It's a resource I just can't pass up.

I would do this myself even if I didn't have tickets to see MPH, but alas, I am a lonely Canadian in a fandom of mostly Brits. So again I'm relying on the help of others to get this done.

I'm asking - fuck, no, I'm begging everyone - please help. People have put too much time and effort to let this go to waste.

Okay, it's been a week since I got the last submission, and I have to say, the news isn't good. I received a total of seven submissions, plus the title credits done by Matt, which brings the total to eight. Not bad, but not great either.

I can see my original plan to have videos then a montage isn't going to work, so I thought I would integrate them into the montage itself, and send along maybe a five-minute video. But I've discovered a problem with some of the submissions, and these refuse to go into Windows Movie Maker.

I'm not saying the Project is dead, but my life's just gotten a little more hectic, so it's no longer on my High Priority list. I'm currently looking to download another program that should let me use the previously unusable clips, and if this works, I'll let you all know.

Thanks for your support anyway, guys. We tried our best.

Edit: inner_starfish, was it you that sent me the Movie Maker file? It didn't work, doll, cause it only saves the project, it doesn't take the original files with it. :/

This is just a quick reminder that the deadline for the project is FRIDAY @ 11:59PM GMT (4PM PST). The project depends solely on submissions, so its survival depends on you.

Hey all, sorry I haven't updated for a bit. But you're probably grateful I'm not plugging your flist. ;)

I filmed my intro/ending for the project on Friday, and I think it went well. I've also had some more submissions and they're all kinds of awesome.

I'm slightly worried, though. I don't know how many submissions are coming in, but right now... there's not many. One girl said she sent me an e-mail but I didn't receive it, so make SURE you send your submission to crazedhobbitlass@hotmail.com. I do check my junk mail obsessively.

Okay. Due to several people saying their cameras have broken, and their computers have spontaneously combusted, or they won't be able to film until this weekend... I have decided to extend the deadline.

THE NEW DEADLINE IS: FRIDAY OCTOBER 6TH @ 11:59pm GMT

This news will be spread far and wide. I'm even going to post on some new forums about it. Why? Cause I'm greedy and I want tons and tons of people. ;)

About the end song... I'm thinking about using Sweet Home Alabama for the actual video, and something else for the end. Something like Franz Ferdinand - This Boy. It's fast paced, which is what I wanted, and I think the lyrics are pretty good.

Two days until the 'official' deadline. Would love to have as many videos as is possible by the deadline, but I'll understand if one or two are submitted after (as it's going to take me the weekend to make the actual movie).

Had my first video submission today, so thanks to L and J and their hamster! :D

Don't forget the poll in the previous entry. I'd like to have a few more votes before I make it final. (And I love that Stiggy voted for my favourite FF song. *giggles*)

I've figured out the final timeline for the project, and I'm going to try and stick to it as best as I can. Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

SEPTEMBER 28th @ 11:59PM GMT: Initial deadline for submissions.

September 29th: I will be filming my submission with a friend. That way I can see what others I have, and can adjust my intro/submission/conclusion accordingly.

October 1st/2nd: If all goes well, this will be the LAST POSSIBLE DATE for editing. After this, I will send the product off to mad_lemming_89 to be burned and sent off.

If there are any questions/concerns, please leave them here.

I asked this in my own journal, but I was wondering if people on here wanted to answer.

I was wondering if I should do a video montage at the end of the Project, after all the videos are finished and I've done the conclusion. The four songs I have lined up right now are:

INXS - Devil's Party (my personal choice)

Bodyrockers - I Like The Way You Move (we know Hammond likes this song

Charlatans - You're So Pretty (cause he is!)

The Cardigans - My Favourite Game (another favourite)

I'm open to other suggestions as well!

THE HAMSTER PROJECT:

Project: People record a message, maximum 30 seconds long, and I will compile them into a get-well video for Hammond, and post it on YouTube. Multiple videos, if necessary. And then, once they are done, I will be sending them off to a friend who will make a DVD and mail it to the TG Studio.

Technical Requirements: Medium must be digital. This can range from digital cameras, camera phones, web cams, etc. Still pictures that can be made into a moving picture are alright, as long as they are digital/scanned in and numbered 1 to whatever.

Rules: Must be for Hammond, above all else. No fangirly messages with screaming, please, we want to keep this nice and lovely. However, funny messages are allowed - if you WANT to put a bag over your head and wish him well but you can't reveal your face cause you own a C+C, go ahead! Just make sure it's a get-well message for our little hamster.

Get Creative! You can say get well, say nothing at all (write it down on paper), or spell it out in Jaffa Cakes with your friends. Show him we mean it when we say 'we love you, get well soon'.

If you want to submit, upload your file to a filesharing site such as YSI or sendspace, and e-mail me at the following: crazedhobbitlass at hotmail dot com, with any info you want on the video (name, age, etc.)

Spread the message around! I only have limited connections, but by reaching out, we can get many more people to send the message out there.

Deadline: Let's try and keep this under a week, okay? So... DEADLINE FOR FIRST VIDEO (at least) IS FRIDAY OCTOBER 6TH @ 11:59PM GMT. (4PM PACIFIC)
